Steve Cawood 09Steve Cawood is Regional President of Eastern Operations for Goodwyn, Mills and Cawood, Inc., an engineering and architectural firm with twelve offices across the southeastern United States.  He is registered as a Professional Engineer in four States. Steve has served as the Principal-In-Charge on a wide range of civil and environmental engineering projects including infrastructure projects for government and industry.  He also serves as a principal and founder of Clearwater Solutions, LLC, a GMC subsidiary that provides operation and management services to public utilities across the southeast.

Steve attended Clemson University where he received his Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering in 1976 and his Master of Engineering in Environmental Systems Engineering Degree in 1977.  He is a member of Governor Haley’s Savannah River Committee, the American Water Works Association, the Water Environment Foundation and serves as a trustee of the Baptist Foundation of South Carolina.  He is a former chairman of the Montgomery First Baptist Church Foundation, past chairman of the Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce and past president of the Montgomery Center for Entrepreneurial Development.

Steve has been married to Kathy Cawood for 39 years and they have one daughter, Paige.

Brian McSharry, Partner, Concepts to Companies

mcsharryBrian McSharry is currently a partner in Concepts to Companies a South Carolina based venture capital fund that invests primarily in university based innovations. He is also CEO of the fund’s first portfolio company Accessible Diagnostics which is focused on the delivery of low cost medical devices to under resourced populations. Brian is the former COO and founder of SAGE Automotive Interiors, which spun off from Milliken in 2009 and has had three successful recapitalizations. Overall, investors have exceeded a ten times return on invested capital over the initial five years. Prior to founding SAGE, Brian had a successful career with Milliken, including: leader of the corporate strategy and growth team focusing on the global cost competitiveness initiative in North and South America, Asia and Europe, director of global manufacturing strategy for North America and Operations Leader for Europe.Brian serves on the Advisory Council and is the Chairman of the Richard Furman Society at Furman. He is active in his church and volunteers with Creating Artists for Tomorrow, an art studio for children started by his wife. Brian earned his bachelor of science in chemistry from Furman University. He is a Fellow of the eighth class of the Liberty Fellowship Program and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.

Outside of the professional world, Brian enjoys watersports, outdoor activities and collecting art.
