Lori Morton, P.E.
Lori Morton, P.E., started Aerie Engineering in 1998 with a mindset to offer companies the exact solution they needed through a structured engineering approach. Lori’s background is Mechanical Engineering where she worked 12 years in manufacturing maintenance and process engineering.
Lori initially majored in Recreation while on a full basketball scholarship at Belmont Abbey College near Charlotte. She later transferred to NC State to obtain her Engineering degree and continued to play intercollegiate sports on both the varsity soccer and softball teams.
Lori began her professional career with Michelin Tire Corporation in Greenville, SC, as a Manufacturing Engineer / Project Manager. After eight years, Lori then became the Maintenance/Construction Manager for a start-up plant with Fuji Film in Greenwood, SC.
Over the 17-year life span of Aerie Engineering, the company has evolved and expanded its’ services to include machine design, document management, and even knowledge management where the goal is to help clients “put Wisdom to Work”.
AERIE Engineering has been recognized in South Carolina with various awards and featured in numerous publications. Lori was recently inducted into the NC State Mechanical & Aerospace Hall of Fame and is currently the only female among the inductees. She was asked to give the NCSU Commencement Address to the Mechanical & Aerospace graduates in December 2013 and is often quoted in local publications with her perspectives on women in engineering, trends for engineering in the Upstate, and the growing influence of document management and knowledge management. Lori is active in professional associations and engineering societies in South Carolina.
Lori is a single mom and enjoys woodworking when she is not spending time with her 11-yr old son, Case, on their 12-acres in scenic Pumpkintown, SC.
